WE GROW AND HARVEST
As growers, we work year on year to remain in Harmony with Mother Nature.
We grow our avocados according to the principles of Good Agricultural Practice (GAP).
Our passion is to maintain natural fauna and flora, manage nutrition and irrigation at our farms to deliver the highest quality avocado.
We have grown from sourcing export produce from farmers to acquiring farms
where we grow our own avocados in guideline to Good Agricultural Practices
(GAP). Our farm was setup in 2009 and is located in the countryside of Kipunji
in Rungwe District of Mbeya region on the western border of Tanzania.
We
have more than 28000 plants in our fertile and robust land. With careful
attention from our staff and unconditional devotion to providing our clients with
the best horticultural products, we tend to these plants with utmost affection
as they are our own. We take pride in what we do, so that you can enjoy the
fresh produce once it's in your hands.
At the farm we work year on year to remain in harmony with Mother Nature while maintaining natural fauna & flora through use of registered chemicals
when needed and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is our core principle at
the farm.
We have pack houses both in Kenya and Tanzania. The Packhouse was officially inaugurated by His Excellency President of Tanzania Late Dr. John Pombe Joseph Magufuli. Our pack houses are among the best equipped in Africa to ensure we are in control of quality export-grade produce. They are fitted with cold rooms where preservation is strictly observed to allow prolonged shelf life, quality and to ensure the produce reach the consumer in the purest and most nutritionally beneficial form.
We do not compromise quality, therefore Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) are laid in place and strictly followed all through the value chain from the farm to shipping. We hand-pick our avocados after carefully testing the maturity. The dry matter of the fruit is tested regularly and harvesting is allowed when they meet a minimum dry weight standard. Fruit is packed in 4kg or 10kg boxes and the quality control team is responsible of monitoring the size of fruits in each carton and certifying box weight.
When packed, avocados are sized into categories based upon the weight of an
individual fruit. These sizes are marked according to the number of fruit from each size
category needed to fill a 4 kg box. As with maturity standards, our Avocado Inspectors
have the responsibility of monitoring the size of the individual fruit in each carton.
Each carton of avocados weighs 4kg or 10kg
Once fruit is packed it is loaded in CA containers and routed through Mombasa Port to
our clients.
Our safety program is based on Good Manufacturing Practices and Standard Operating Procedures which is comprehensively designed to be used in the pack houses and cold rooms.
Korongo3 Food and Safety Program is monitored and documented and includes
In addition to our in-house monitoring procedures, independent audits are conducted annually by the local governing authorities, while we also carry out self-audits regularly in our facilities to determine the program efficacy
